Publish360 reader app — unified library of eBooks and audiobooks
The problem

Publishers hand over content. Platforms hand back a royalty report.

The dominant digital channels strip out the reader relationship, withhold engagement data, and take a cut of every sale — indefinitely. The alternative — a bespoke custom build — costs six figures and twelve to eighteen months. Neither is good enough.

30–70%

Commission taken by Amazon, Apple and Audible on every sale

Publish360 is the third option.

A production-ready platform. Publisher-branded. Direct to reader. No commission, no custom build, no surrendering your audience to someone else's platform.

Platform, not a bespoke project

Already live. Already serving readers. Ready for your brand.

Publish360 is a production platform that independent publishers configure and brand as their own. When you join, you benefit from the investment already made in the eBook reader, audiobook player, DRM integration, offline architecture, and analytics engine — rather than paying to build it from scratch.

The distinction matters: a bespoke build creates technical debt and requires ongoing maintenance funding. The Publish360 platform licence includes everything your platform needs to stay current, compliant, and performant.

01

18–22 weeks to launch

The platform is already built, tested, and serving publishers. Configuration, branding, and integration — not months of architecture work.

02

Fixed setup fee

One agreed cost covers everything from discovery to live app store submission. No day-rate overruns, no change order risk within scope.

03

Maintenance included

iOS and Android updates, security patching, DRM management, CDN and hosting — all covered in the platform licence. No developer retainer needed.

The no-commitment guarantee

See your app before you pay for anything

Eden Interactive will build a working demo of your branded app — populated with a sample of your actual catalogue, applying your branding — before any commercial agreement is signed. You see your app, in your colours, with your content, on your phone. If it is not what you expected, you walk away without having paid anything.

The reader experience

Technology that gets out of the way and lets readers read

The eBook reader and audiobook player are the core of the platform. Both are designed to be invisible — professional-grade features without the friction. eBooks and audiobooks appear together in a single My Library — cover art, progress, and download status visible at a glance.

Offline-first architecture across iOS, Android, and web

Content downloads to device. Notes sync when connectivity returns. Configurable device limits (typically three) reduce account sharing.

DRM & content protection

Protection that readers never see. Security that content always has.

Publish360 uses Readium LCP — the industry standard for EPUB DRM, developed by EDRLab to replace the friction and failure modes of Adobe Digital Editions. If your readers have ever struggled with DRM before, this is the technology built specifically to solve that.

Audiobook files are encrypted at rest with signed URLs that expire after use. Supplementary materials use social DRM — a watermark containing the purchaser's identity — a proportionate deterrent for clinical and professional content that must remain editable.

Invisible to legitimate readers

Readers open their purchase on their phone, tablet, or the web — without knowing any protection is in place. Files are locked to their account and device, making extracted copies non-functional outside the app.

Works fully offline

Downloaded eBooks are protected and readable without connectivity. No separate account or device authorisation step required — a reader clicks their title and it opens.

No device registration

Unlike Adobe Digital Editions, Readium LCP requires no frustrating device authorisation steps that created support overhead and damaged customer relationships.

Open, interoperable standard

Developed and audited by EDRLab — the non-profit digital publishing consortium. Eden Interactive is an EDRLab member. LCP is not locked to any single vendor.

Monetisation

No revenue share. Sell your way.

Publish360 is built around a publisher-first commercial model: sell through your own ecommerce infrastructure and keep the full margin. There is no commission on sales made through your website — no cut going to Apple, Google, or Eden Interactive.

No Apple/Google commission

Reader app model (recommended)

All purchases made on your website, using your payment processing. The app is free to download. When a reader buys, a webhook communicates the entitlement to Publish360 and the content appears immediately in their library.

Apple Pay / Google Pay

In-app purchases

Purchases processed inside the app via Apple or Google. Subject to 15–30% platform commission depending on your revenue level. Can run in parallel with the website purchase model.

Monthly, annual, or custom

Subscription tiers

Recurring subscriptions with access to full catalogue or defined collections. Trial periods, promotional codes, and coupon-based access all supported.

Bulk licensing for institutions and organisations
Single-item purchase and promotional codes
Access codes for controlled or gifted distribution

Works with your existing ecommerce

Publishers do not need to replace their current commerce infrastructure. Eden provides a documented REST API and webhook schema that integrates with whatever you already operate.

Analytics

Marketplaces sell your books. Publish360 tells you how readers use them.

On Amazon, you know how many copies sold. On Publish360, you know which chapter 32% of your clinical readers abandoned — and you can use that to improve the next edition. The analytics dashboard is built into the publisher admin hub, with no additional licence or third-party tool required.

  • Royalty payment
  • Nothing else

Publish360 gives you

  • Which chapters readers abandon
  • Average time spent per title
  • Which purchases were never opened
  • New vs. returning reader trends

Publish360 does not replace marketplace distribution — publishers can sell through both simultaneously. It adds a direct channel the publisher controls.

Who it is built for

Built for publishers of every kind

Trade & academic publishers

You have built a catalogue. Stop watching 30% disappear.

You sell through Amazon and other marketplaces and watch the margin vanish. You have no idea how your readers engage with your content. Publish360 gives you a direct channel, operational in under six months, with analytics that tell you more about your readers than any marketplace ever will.

Professional & specialist publishers

Fillable forms, institutional SSO, and chapter-level analytics.

Your catalogue includes clinical resources, academic textbooks, or professional training content. The standard marketplace experience is too generic. Publish360 is designed for this: DRM that works seamlessly for professionals, supplementary materials in the same app, SAML for institutional buyers.

Course creators & educational publishers

eBooks, audiobooks, video, and structured courses — one app.

Your content includes video, guided pathways, and quizzes alongside or instead of traditional books. Publish360 handles multiple formats, tracks learner progress, and integrates with your existing ecommerce or LMS infrastructure.

International publishers

Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian — and offline for variable connectivity.

Your content serves readers across languages and regions. Publish360 handles RTL scripts correctly, supports localised interfaces, works offline in markets with patchy connectivity, and allows regional availability control from the admin hub.

Publishers with a custom app nearing end of life

Migrate to a sustainable platform without losing your reader base.

Custom-built apps have a lifespan. Architecture becomes dated, agencies move on, and iOS/Android maintenance costs grow every year. Publish360 supports migration of existing user accounts, purchase history, and entitlements as part of implementation.

Charities & non-profits

Reach your audience directly with accessible, affordable distribution.

Charitable organisations with publications, training resources, or pastoral content can use Publish360 to distribute directly to their communities — with the same professional DRM, analytics, and accessibility compliance as any commercial publisher.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Amazon is working fine for Amazon. Amazon knows your readers, markets to them across its entire platform, and takes a substantial share of the revenue on every sale. You get a royalty report. Publish360 does not replace marketplace distribution — publishers can sell through both simultaneously. What it adds is a direct channel that you control: reader data, direct marketing capability, zero commission, and analytics that tell you what readers actually do with your content.
A custom build gives you exactly what you specify at the point of signing. Eighteen months later, when iOS releases a new version or Apple changes an app store policy, you need to go back to the agency. And again the following year. Publish360 includes ongoing maintenance, OS updates, DRM management, and security patching in the platform licence. The investment continues to be maintained and improved — not frozen at the point of launch.
Adobe Digital Editions was a bad experience. It frustrated legitimate customers and created support overhead. Readium LCP was built to solve exactly that problem — by the same open standards body that the publishing industry founded to replace ADE. LCP operates silently. Readers who have paid for content never encounter a DRM prompt. Files are protected without the protection being visible.
Yes. Publish360 integrates via a documented REST API and webhook schema. When a reader purchases on your website, your system communicates that entitlement to Publish360 via webhook. The content appears in their library within seconds. Eden provides API documentation, endpoint specifications, and a sandbox environment. Most integrations are straightforward for a developer familiar with REST APIs.
All data is exportable. User accounts, purchase history, entitlement mappings, and reading and listening progress are all available in standard formats. Eden Interactive will provide up to 30 days of transition cooperation. The platform is deliberately designed to avoid technical lock-in — we believe publishers should stay because the platform delivers value, not because leaving is painful.
No. Publish360's setup fee and monthly licence structure are designed to be accessible to independent publishers of any size. The platform scales from hundreds of users to hundreds of thousands without architectural change, so publishers can start small and grow without replatforming. The no-commitment guarantee means you can see a demo of your actual app before committing any budget.
